Had this on tap at Ashley's in Westland, Michigan on IPA Day 2013 (for get this... $3/pint).
This is one of Ashley's 30th Anniversary beers.
Served on tap from the Beer Garden which means it was served in a plastic pint cup.
The beer was presented with a half inch head that remained steady throughout.
Taste was mildly hoppy and roasted bitterness with a hint of sourness (grapefuity sourness). Mouthfeel was medium. Low carbonation.
In comparison to other Black IPA's I was a bit let down. It was a very good beer, but since I love both Black IPA's and the brewery, I was expecting something grand.
We'll see if this brew has a future... It might need a few changes though if it's to hold up to the other special beers from Kuhnhenn.
