This was the first beer that I tried from this brewery and really liked it. This is a really good IPA and have had a few times since.

From a can.

This pours a warm amber. The nose is rich and malty with a low bitterness. Lots of piney grapefruit notes and a throwback hop profile on this. A bit of chew finishes it out.

Look: Dark orange with red hues and the pour brings on a lively off-white head that forms a pillow and holds, slowly receding and leaving great lacing behind
Aroma: Pink, white, and ruby-red grapefruit flesh and juice, limes, some orange, Juicy Fruit gum, citrus blossoms, and bready malt
Taste: Starts off like the nose, with a huge punch of everything grapefruit coming on full-boar and quickly building depth of character. Other citrus fruits follow behind, along with light floral notes, but this beer is a straight-up grapefruit bomb through the close, which includes a light bite
Mouthfeel: Full, clean, medium-high carbonation, and clean on the finish with a touch of dryness
Overall: This is some tasty stuff. This well-made IPA definitely showcases the grapefruit component of Citra hops and for me, flies slightly under the radar overall as a solid WCIPA with a new-school hop profile and buying it again to review helped remind me of just how good it is as well. Citra hop and grapefruit fans – keep this one in mind

Growler from Albertsons. Golden pour with a small white foamy head.Intermediate IPA, decent, but not outstanding. Dry, hoppy snap, but all else is within the norm. Good example.

better than their house ipa i reckon, a little more dynamic this one, although here is yet another beer that feels the need to call out its "malt backbone" which is like saying your beer is juicy, its brutal how we all have to use like the same four describing words with beer, need a little fuller use of the language, but that is not a critique of this beer specifically, and in fact, its malt structure is part of what makes it for me, fuller feeling and with a deep nutty taste, but not caramelized or sweet really at all, just nicely balanced. its got a pretty orange color, short of sparklingly clear, but its not a hazy beer either, and it holds over an inch of puffy just off white head, rises above the rim of the glass and stays there, pretty. it smells and tastes well rounded, some definite zesty orange character to the hops, some dank piney woodsy notes as well, a touch of honey, grapefruit, minerals, baked bread, slightly english ale yeast but clean, overall very flavorful and well proportioned, fresh, and well textured, this is nicely carbonated and not too heavy in feel despite the grain presence throughout. the terminal gravity stuff has been really up and down for me, but this one is solid, sort of timeless but also distinctive enough to be interesting to me. good buy.

12oz can served in a can glass. Brassy gold amber and mostly clear, pillowy white head. Mild pine aroma doesn't suggest much in the way of dry hops. Flavor has a pretty generic C-hop pine and citrus zest IPA profile, but also provides a decent malt backbone with some caramel and crystal malt. Another oldschool IPA, the label claims 81 IBU but I'd have guessed less. But it's well drinkable if you're not looking for a modern or exciting IPA.

Heavy. This beer makes me feel full after only one 12 oz. can. Smells very malty sweet and there is a definite syrupy taste and mouthfeel. It is heavily hopped, with the pronounced bitterness showing up late in the aftertaste, where even the sweetness is slow to fade. The can boasts grapefruit and orange which require some creative critiquing to detect. This is likely a well-made beer that many will enjoy. It's just too heavy and sweet for my fat butt. I like to enjoy 2 or 3 brews, but just one of these and I'm done.

12oz can purchased at Rocket Market , in Spokane, Washington, for under $2. I had previously reviewed this in February when I bought a 6-pk of bottles at Beer:30 in Kennewick, WA, but they'd apparently been sitting for at least 6 months and were ruined (I didn't know then this was a summer seasonal). Like those bottles, this can is undated (get your shit together, TG). Named for the Eagle Cap Wilderness, a place where my family has done some hiking in eastern Oregon, not too far from where this was brewed.

Poured into a shaker pint glass, this was a chill-hazed coppery amber color, with a big, pillowy, eggshell-white head that took it's time dropping and left lots of lace on the sides of my glass.

Spicy and piney hop ara, with a substantial, biscuity malt backbone.

Taste is pretty much like the aroma. Hops lead the parade, but the malts are a more substantial supporting player than usual for an IPA. This could be sold as a standard pale ale and probably not elicit much comment.

Medium bodied, with a lightly oily mouthfeel.

An old school example of a PNW IPA, and a fairly mediocre one at that. This is an okay fridge filler, but not something I'd be driven to track down. Still, it's light years better than the elderly sixer of it I previously had.

12 oz single purchased from Lifesource in Salem, Oregon. $1.79 Pours a clear gold colour with a medium sized thick and frothy off white head. Oh my..aroma not great..creamed corn, cardboard little leafy hop maybe. Taste dull, again corn then we get some hopiness..a herbal hops, malts getting nutty. Overall strange. Mouth feel is just fine..low carbonation but smooth enough. This is an odd beer..its like an old style micro blonde ale. Its not bad per say just not my idea of an IPA in 2006 let alone 2016.

Hazy rich gold with three fingers of cream color head. Good retention and dense lace.
Smell is citrus and resinous hops
Taste is big fruity citrus lemon zest resin hop oil and good amount of malts. Not enough malt to mask the hop character.
Mouthfeel is close to medium with ample carbonation. Finish semi dry and bitter.
Overall a tasty seasonal IPA. Very smooth and satisfying.
