Pours a half finger of head on a black body.
The aroma is rich roasted and burnt malt. Nice and dark.
The taste has a deep chocolate flavor, burnt wood with a dry bitter burnt finish.
The texture is smooth with light fizz.
Very enjoyable.

On tap at EOU Faculty Lounge, 8.30.10. Given the retired status of Bar X Stout, I believe this is a different beer, though can't verify due to TG website being in a state of flux.
One finger brown head, medium-fast dissipation with significant lacing. Dark brown opaque body with no visible carbonation. Nose is a big chocolate hit, some roasted malt, not a lot of hop presence. Taste is a big dose of chocolate upfront, some coffee, roasted malts, with a good dose of bitterness on the backend, got more bitter as it warmed. Mouthfeel is medium-full, a wee bit sticky, and very filling. A bit on the heavy side to be sessionable, but quite tasty. Not sure of the ABV. IMHO could have used more hop presence, especially aromatics. Worth a try.
