On tap at the brewery.
A: Pours a near opaque black. Light brown around the edges. A two finger tan head forms with plenty of lace left behind.
S: I get a good amount of smoke up front. Light chocolate, light roast. That is followed by the hops. Piny, slightly soapy. With a touch of bitterness lingering. Enjoyable, if not exceptional.
T: Like the nose, this is enjoyable, but not particularly exceptional. Light roast, with an up front smokiness, chocolate malts that is fairly sweet. Piny hops, maybe some citrus, and lingering bitterness. As usual this is just a hodgepodge of different styles. Not really a bad thing, but not my favorite from the brewery.
M/O: A medium to full body. Moderate carbonation that is crisp and smooth at the same time. Enjoyable to drink, certainly good if not exceptional.
Like just about every other example of the style, I feel this is a little confused and even thin. For the style this is well made and fans of Firestone Walker Wookey Jack will really enjoy this. Not bad at all, just not my particular style.
