On tap at the brewery
A: Pours a dark mahogany brown color. A dense two finger beige head forms with excellent retention. Some patchy lace is left behind as well.
S: Toasted and sweet malts up front. A toffee sweetness, even candied sweet like. Enjoyable, if a little to sweet.
T: Like the nose there is a large sweetness. Toasted malts, toffee and candied fruits. Very enjoyable, even if it is a bite cloying. Though not over barring.
M/O: A full body that is well carbonated. Crisp, but smooth at the same time. A warming sipper and the sweetness does takes its toll. Though, still something I really enjoy sipping on.
A well made American example of the style. Maybe not the best I have had in the States or otherwise. Though still well made and incredibly enjoyable in its own right. It says something about the brewery when the not world class examples are just damn good anyway.
