Cold brewed coffee from Champaign’s Columbia St. Roastery not only impart pure, er…roastiness to our very dry and surprisingly refreshing coffee stout, but amazingly adds…coffee! About 1/4 cup per pint.

16oz can. No dating information found.
Dark brown colored body, with red mahogany back lit edge. Two fingers of khaki colored head, and this persists as a full cap and ring. Leaves behind short strings of lacing.
Aroma of roasted malts, with coffee, chocolate, and a little vanilla.
Taste is a base of roasted malts with a bit of char, and flavors of dark roast coffee, chocolate, and the sweetness of vanilla. All flavors continue in the aftertaste.
Medium mouthfeel. Bitterness from the char and coffee. Very good carbonation.
Bitter throughout but the vanilla sweetness adds a counterbalance. Lack of thickness makes for a quick and easy drinker.

Poured from 12-ounce bottle into a snifter. Deep dark brown in color, with a couple fingers of thick tan head. Good retention, sheets of pretty lacing. I love it when a brewer delivers on his promises, and this delivers. There's a ton of dark roast coffee aroma and flavor, with lots of coffee and char lingering on the palate all the way through the finish and beyond. It's a little thinner in body than I had expected, but overall it's an excellent stout if you love coffee. Recommended.

Poured from pint can. Tan head of small bubbles, not rocky. Smooth, good coffee finish. Not too bitter for a stout, maybe a bit of lactose added to de-bitter? Medium to thin mouthfeel, not velvety, but the pleasant flavor makes up for lack of body. Not a lot of aroma, was hoping for a bit of chocolate or more coffee but that's only in the finish.

Red sticker says 12/06/20 (sampled 3/15/21). Hand carried bottle from Illinois (thanks Cass!)
Aroma: Heavy coffee, burnt grain, mild earthy hop note.
Appearance: Black glass, holds a thin cover of tan head, laces.
Taste: Sweet coffee drops off quickly to a dry dark roasted malt, finishes very cleanly, maybe a mild mineral note in the finish. Slight lactic like twang.
Mouthfeel: Silky, medium body, medium carbonation, little slick.
Overall: Very tasty Stout, big coffee flavor doesn't overwhelm the beer, finish is slightly dry but very clean making this an easy drinking beer.

Found the beer in the mix a six cooler at my local liquor store. Being from illinois I'd heard of this brewery before but never tried any of their beers. This one is pretty good. Right off the bat there is a strong coffee aroma. That's about the only thing I get from the smell besides the malt. The flavour is not as strong as the smell but still pretty good, and you will certainly know this is coffee flavoured. The carbonation is medium to medium high, not nearly as smooth as I prefer but Im not complaining. Overall I'm glad I picked this guy up and I will gladly pick up some more of their beers if I come across them. I also picked up their hattori hanzo pale ale to try but haven't tried it yet. Bottom line is if you like coffee stouts you'll like this.its not too complex but sometimes that's a good thing
