A: Pours a dark opaque brown color. A two finger tan head forms with excellent retention. Spiderweb looking lace is left all the way down the glass. Looks great.
S: Roasted malt up front, sweet chocolate. Some yeast. A nice bread and biscuit aroma. Some bitter, dry bakers chocolate is most dominate.
T: This is great. Some roasted malt is nice, but not up front and center. Toasted bread, caramel malt, lots of dry chocolate. Plenty of earthy yeast. A slightly bitter, but dry finish. I love it.
M/D: A full body that is low on the carbonation. Everything is really clean, smooth and creamy. So easy to drink. I would not have guessed this was anywhere near 8%. I could drink this all night.
An excellent beer. I am not really sure what a Belgian Stout is, but this is pretty much what I would expect. Lots of flavor, and so easy to drink. I think this is just excellent. Highly recommended if at the brewpub.

One finger of slightly tan froth tops a deep, murky brown body that veers toward black. The dark ruby trim distinguishes the wonderful color. Nice duration and ample lacing provide BPBS with a terrific look. Good nose--plenty of dark chocolate and caramel, with some berry in tow.
Fabulous taste! Malt forward with chocolate, caramel, and some roasted coffee, but the sweet berry helps to maintain a fine balance. Berry and chocolate in the finish make for an excellent beer. The mouthfeel is the best of Belgian Stout--effervescent to allow the rich flavors to blend expertly together, smooth and creamy like a well-malted stout.
Blind Pig Belgian Stout is a first-rate beer, an outstanding representative of the style. It was also a fine way to spend a lightly snowy afternoon, chinwagging beer with a good bartender, enjoying some local microbrew, enjoying the Blind Pig ambiance (dark, dimly lit periphery, in a comfortable bar stool), as the snow fell on a breeze-less Champaign afternoon.
Recommended without reservation.
