a very nice stout, really heavy on the dark grain, and one of the better and more sturdy craft beers i have had from brazil, thanks to drlovemd87 for sharing, as always. its coal black in the glass with a very rich tall off white head, airy but also thick in places, lacy as it drinks. the aroma and flavor are quite heavy, charred barley as a base, bitter and intense, with notes of coffee behind it and molasses in front of it, rather complex for being seemingly straightforward. seems like an english ale yeast, there is a little of that bready heft here, but its hard to place it exactly with all the bitter dark grains. lots of body too, this is hearty and sits heavy in the stomach, but as a last beer of the night kind of thing, i really like it. slight oxidation here, more noticeable as it warms up, i think this has been in the bottle awhile, although i do not see a date on it. my first beer from these guys is a good one, bigger and more robust than a lot of american straight up stouts, i would be interested in trying some more stuff from these guys for sure, especially the coffee one!
