German-style refillable growler filled at Maplewood on 6/6/04, enjoyed on 6/7/04. Growler was filled to the tippy top, all the better for preventing CO2 loss and oxidation. Great.
First imperial pint glass pours with an airy 1/2" beige head, which faded down to a layer of bubbles, which lace nicely. Amber shade to the brew, with an aroma of sweet malts and hops. Taste is kind of citrusy, with the hops coming in later, and the combination seems contrived at best. Like the right pieces to the puzzle are there, but the last few are just jammed in place where they don't fit. Mouthfeel is the same, bitter but not quite in the desirable way, but drinkability is good, because it isn't a bad beer, just not all it could be.
