German-style refillable growler filled at Maplewood on 4/17/04, enjoyed on 4/18/04. Growler was filled to the tippy top, all the better for preventing CO2 loss and oxidation. Cool.
This brew is a fund-raiser with a bunch of brewpubs (who all used a similar recipe) in Western MA working in conjunction with each other. A google search for "piece of the pint" will explain it, if you are interested.
First imperial pint glass pours with a vanilla shake looking 1" head, which eventually faded down to a layer of foam. Head mostly disappated after a couple of minutes. Perfect copper hue, nice malty aroma coupled with some hops. Taste is reasonably well-balanced, yet the individual flavors, esp the malts and hops, appear at separate times during the tasting, combining together. Interesting effect. Very smooth mouthfeel, and lends itself to sessionability in a big way, I would think.
