Enjoyed on tap at the brewpub, presented in a 1/2 pint glass.
Poured a sizable tan-colored head on top of a very dark, almost translucent brew, which actually seems to have an amethyst color when held up to the pub lights. Great malty aroma, and the taste doesn't disappoint, with some hoppiness, but not a lot, to balance the malt just enough. Great beer, although a bit thin-seeming in the mouthfeel for what you expect from the aroma and taste. Could almost be even more.

Sampled on tap at the brewpub.
This porter poured an almost opaque dark brown with hints of red near the edges, with tan foam that settled and left some lace. The smell was bitter coffee malt. The taste was tangy with coffee malt and cocoa overtones and a hint of hops. The flavor was a bit thin. The mouthfeel was tangy and sharp on the tongue initially. The body was medium and the carbonation was moderate. This was a decent porter but thin on body and flavor.
