Certainly not one of the better Kölschs: 500ml bottle chilled. Tastes like nothing, when it´s at room temperature you can´t drink it. The same after ten minutes in a glass. You have to drink it immediately after pouring. Crap...

Notes: Barley and wheat malt.
Sweetish malt with a pleasant apple flavor that includes both bruised, fallen apples and sweet and juicy fresh ones. A delicate acidity and median bitterness balance it. It finishes dry with lingering apple, a smear of herbal and spicy hops, and a dull bitterness.

Notes taken in Koln in Spring 2016:
BOTTLE: 500ml format. Brown glass. Pry-off crown cap. Best before: 07.16. Brewed with wheat malt and hop extract.
4.80% ABV.
HEAD: ~2.5cm wide head. White colour. Not as frothy as I've come to expect of the best beers in the style. Retention is average - ~2-3 minutes. Leaves no lacing as it recedes.
BODY: Clear vibrant gold.
Appears well carbonated. Not unique or special looking, but certainly inviting.
AROMA: Faint honey, floral hop notes, Munich malt, maybe some pilsner malt. I don't pick up on the wheat malt or hop extract. Some mild fruity esters.
Aromatic intensity is average.
TASTE: Unbalanced. Munich malt sweetness, generic floral hop character. It's quite simple and plain, and the malt backbone nods towards the cheap taste of budget premium lagers with a syrupy malt extract-y flavour. I'm not very keen on this.
TEXTURE: Overcarbonated, medium-bodied, smooth, wet, too thick, syrupy. Not the refreshing crisp clean light-bodied mouthfeel you'd hope for in a Kolsch.
Not oily, astringent, gushed, hot, boozy, or harsh.
OVERALL: Not a great Kolsch by any means, which is disappointing given it's brewed in Koln. I'm sure it's better fresh on-draught, but this is well below par for a Kolsch with the official appellation. I wouldn't recommend this to others or buy it again - at least not in bottled form.

Pours a clear golden color, topped with more than generous white head which has a nice retention.
The aroma is mild, slightly sweet and fruity and hoppy.
The taste is nicely enjoyable, sweet and slightly bittery in the end.
Smooth, nice and enjoyable.

I had this low budget kölsch on a sunny evening. I can tell you it's quite ok beer for the price and for being totally obscure. I'm sure it's better than some premium brand boring lagers. It has a nice golden color and typical kölsch taste. It was served very cold so maybe it might have hidden the real aroma a bit. It has a small head and short retention. It's surprisingly good for the price, but if you want a real good kölsch I would recommend Gäffel or Reissdorf.

Second Kolsch of the evening: half litre bottle best before Oct 2012, poured into my 'Gaffel Kolsch' glass three times.
Looks fine: golden, clean and clear, the head tried to stay unlike most Kolsch, who's toppings leave almost straight away.
Yeasty and hoppy in the aroma: makes a change to smell anything from a Kolsch.
Nice bitter hop kick to this compared to the usual slightly sweeter Kolsch brews.
Prefered this to the highly rated Reissdorf, which was the beer before this. I know this is a cheap supermarket beer but I liked it.

catch up rating from notes: 2011: Bottle picked up on a trip through Köln. The real deal from Köln, brewed within the city limits. That said, its quite average at best. Nothing stands out, no major knocks against it. Right on style. enough said.

A friend brought this one back from German for me. 0,5 l bottle served into a standard pint. Served straight from 30 minutes in the freezer. I am told Kolsch should be served very cold.
Appearance: Very pale yellow with a nice looking white billowy head.
Smell: Smells like a BMC from the states. Corn like with very little hop note.
Taste: Very little in the taste department. Even though the body is not thin, the taste is lacking. Tastes halfway between a Budweiser and Bud lite. Not bad or unpleasant, but not good either.
Simple, sweet mild corn taste seems to be the best way to describe this beer.
Mouthfeel: Slick and mull bodied. I think the body is fine. Lower amount of carbonation than I was expecting.
Drinkability: Would not choose this one again. Maybe others will like it's lack of character, but not me. And i would have to go to Koln to get it again.

Pours a solid golden yellow with light, quickly dissipating head. Aroma is wheaty with a littl metallic and skunk. Taste is quite sweet, too sweet even for a Kölsch. The flavors are mostly centered around the wheat malts with some grass and a slight hop bitterness. This one is lower on the list when it comes to Kölsch.

Pours an amber gold color with a sticky white head but doesn't leave to much lacing and leaves quickly at that.
Smell is of faint corn husk.
Taste is watery thin corn. This one is best served ice cold. Finish has a leathery bite, with a small amount of carbonation. Very light bodied beer.
Kind of disappointed with this beer.
