Bottle: Poured a clear dark caramel color bock with a medium size foamy head with average retention and not much lacing. Aroma of dry toffee notes with caramelized malt notes is quite bit dryer then I had expected. Taste is also dryer then I had expected with some dry caramelized malt notes and some toffee notes also discernable. Body is about average with medium carbonation. Not bad but I have tasted better offering form this brewer. I usually not too fond of sweet beer but I think some additional residual sugar would have benefited this offering.

Single bottle from Broue Ha Ha.

Poured into a red wine glass. Dark mahogany-ruby in colour. Some lacing, a thick ring of foam encircles the glass.

Malt, dark fruit (grape, plum), caramel and sugar. Very sweet.

The sweetness is certainly present in the taste. Caramel, toffee, brown bread, a bit of grain and smoke. Thicker bodied, nice carbonation. Very fruity.

Quite nice, but a bottle is enough. The sweetness is a bit overbearing - needs some hops or bitterness to bring some balance here. Still, nice doppelbock.

341ml Bottle from Broue Haha QC for 3$

Appearance - Brown colour with a below average size fizzy/frothy beige coloured head. There is an average amount of carbonation showing and there is some faint lacing. The head lasted for only a short while.

Smell - Malts, dark fruits, caramel

Taste & Mouth - There is a below average amount of carbonation and I can taste malts mixed with some caramel/butterscotch. There is also a bit of a dark fruit taste and a some light metallic/rusty notes. There was also some peat/earthy notes. It ends with a earthy/malty aftertaste.

Overall - Not one of their best efforts unfortunately. The rusty flavours off set the malty/dark fruit notes. The mouthfeel also feels too thin.
