Kaiser Wilhelm is a variation on their standard King William Ale that they normally have. One of the brewers told me that it technically isn't a barleywine, because they actually used lager yeast to brew it. However, from the taste and flavor, it still fits the style in my mind.
A: Pours a clear, medium amber color with a light amount of foam. Dissipates quickly and leaves adequate lacing on the goblet.
S: Fruity, a hint of spices, and a slight bit of hoppiness.
T: Sweet, but very dry, with a nice hit of hops coming through. There's a nice blend of fruits that live around the edges of the flavor, never really coming front and center, but making their presence known. Alcohol is completely hidden, with only a hint of warming.
M: Very dry on the finish, with a low-level of carbonation. Very good.
D: Probably not something you'd have more than a couple of in one sitting, but it makes a great after-dinner drink if you're sitting at the bar. I'd be curious how this would stack up side-by-side with their standard King William ale.
