On tap at the brewery. Dark brown color with thin tan head. Smells of roasted malt. Medium body with prickly carbonation. Roasted malt flavors with moderate sweetness and a bitter finish. Very nice!

Dark amber color. Very light malty nose. Smooth palette with caramel and toffee flavors. Decent long dry finish. Overall quite good and by far the best beer at the Blue Star tasting room.

On tap at the brewpub. The beer pours a brownish-amber color with a tan head. The aroma has a lot of cocoa notes, as well as some toffee from the malt. The flavor is similar. There is a lot of dry cocoa, as well as some dark fruit, toffee and caramel. The beer is a little bit sweeter than some other doppelbocks I have tried. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
