Sampled at the brewpub in mid-June, this beauty came out black as coal under a light brown one finger creamy head that lasted forever and left full lacing. Served too cold, the nose took a long time to develop, but what emerged was a pleasant combination of nuts and caramel. The mouth is too heavily carbonated, and a touch on the light side. Good toasty nut and espresso flavors kick off the taste experience, with decent roasted bitterness and a touch of caramel. The aftertaste is smooth yet bitter - more coffee than hops, but still most pleasant. This is a good effort.
