On cask at High Street Brewpub today. IMO, it would be nice if more Mcmenamin's had a wider array of seasonals and one offs that I saw today at High Street.
The beer pours an orange peach color with very good head retention and lacing. However, the best part of this beer is it's aroma. I get the expected citrusy aroma, but there's also some underlying earth and wet tobacco. I was told this is a richer, more full bodied version of the house IPA, but I wonder if there was some wet hops added as well. In any event, this beer smells terrific. The flavors on the palate replicate the nose, and the beer is exceptionally smooth, I assume partially as a result of the cask conditioning. The alcohol is also pretty noticeable in this beer, and the bartender confirmed that the abv. is somewhere in the 8% to 9% range. The abv. hurts the drinkability just a bit, but it's so delicious, it didn't bother me all that much.
One of the better beers I've had from McMenamin's in some time.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
