How can it be that none of the McMenamin's Anniversary beers brewed at this location have been recorded? Bizarre!
The 26th Anniversary Ale marks the anniversary of the Barley Mill Pub, the first in the McMenamin's chain.
It's a slightly hazy golden colored ale with a bright white head that displays good retention and decent lacing.
The aroma is not too hoppy (which I was expecting of a special beer), but rather just basic malt and hop.
The flavor offers sweetly grainy malt with yeasty fruitiness and what seem like Crystal hops (? - floral, with soft hints of sweetish grass), and a median bitterness.
It's not a monster by any means, but rather, a finely focused, very rounded, and very finely balanced and superbly drinkable golden ale. It's nicely done, and well worth seeking out before it's gone.
