a wet hop ipa done with a ton of simcoe, on tap at their righteous new tacoma location, what a space! i think its weird how many of their beers come in at 6.45% abv, like that is oddly specific no? especially across a range of different beer types. in any event, this one is really solid, a little muted to me, maybe getting towards the end of the season on something like this assuming a september(ish) harvest, but its nice as a drinker, just less unique and robust than others i had this fall. pretty clear brew with an average white head, lots of bubbles rising up, sort of a brassy look about it, fills out the glass well. the nose here is brighter than the flavor, simcoe grapefruit character, pithy but not so bitter on the tongue, i also get some mosaic character too though, although i dont think there is any in here, i get than canned pineapple thing, a touch sweet and kind of oily in the middle, but there is a bit of vienna type malt to balance it, temper any bitterness, and flesh it out a bit, it works, but drinks to me a little more like a pale ale than an ipa, and might not be the most intense expression of simcoe out there. still, its good, and i liked all three beers we had in here, i dont get why they dont get more love...
