Pint at Thompsons Brewpub in South Salem.
Christmas Eve lunch time.
Sitting outside under the trees with a roaring fire pit and my kid for company. What better then a Scotch Ale and not a really strong example as far as alcohol ( even better. More traditional).
In appearance beautiful burnt amber, clear and with a very good looking beige coloured head. This is what a beer should look like.
Aromas of roasted malts, caramel, Orkney fudge, peat smoke and wintergreen somewhere in there.
Taste was basically the same as the nose..the peat smoke being well balanced and not excessive.
Awesome mouth feel. Smooth, yet still well carbonated. Very very drinkable.
What can i say? A lovely lower alcohol Scotch Ale. Haven't had a better one in years.
If you like Scotch Ales. Or just malty beers do not pass this one up if you are in a McMenamins this winter.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
