Thompsons Brewpub, Salem. from a huge mason jar. $11.50 I note on the board outside the beers are under "Alewife brews' , as this brewery has a great female brewster Appearance..pretty dark almost ebony for a porter but with the tan head. Nice toasted malts/cereal. chocolate aromas though. Very rich toasty type porter flavour with hints of dark juicy berries..indeed quite sweet with these..black currants and also red currants run amok. A little vineous but pretty unusual and OK in my book. Palate is typical McMens..being on the thin side to allow great consumption. Overall a rather fruity porter very nice for the winter,
