Simply brown color. Some head. Flavor is indeed nutty. Hazelnut forward. Otherwise simple. Feel is a little watery. Decent overall.

Tasty seasonal, though I found that it was not brewed with as consistent quality as I would have liked.

on-tap @ McMenamins Sunnyside

Hazy, amber-brown with a foamy white head and nice lacing.

Nutty, malty notes highlighted by floral hop notes.

Medium body, foamy carbonation.

A well done brown ale. Solid malt body with pleasant hop highlights. Another fall seasonal from McMenamins that I've really enjoyed.

On tap at McMenamins Grand Lodge in Forest Grove, OR. Reviewed from notes.

A- No head to speak of. Some watery lacing. Dark mahogany brown. Good carbonation.

S- Biscuity malts, dark hops and possibly caramel.

T- Sweet malty taste, kind of thin flavoring though. Nutty flavors.

M- Quite thin body and slightly overcarbonated.

O- Too thin for a brown ale, but tastes good.

I had this beer on-tap at the McMenamins in Mill Creek, WA.

Appearance: rich brown amber hue with a touch of haze and a thin layer of ivory head. Nice color.

Smell: light sweet malt aroma which is quite caramelly. Not too bad.

Taste: also quite caramelly, there is a slightly nutty malt flavor with a bit of biscuit and tartness. Light yeasty character is nice. Seems like an authentic English-style brown ale.

Mouthfeel: medium light body with a good level of carbonation. I like it.

Overall: quite a satisfying brown ale. Dig it!

A: deep brown color with thin soapy head

S:malts, toffee and caramel, weak nutty presence

T: weak malts, touch of honey and nuttiness, rather weak in overall taste. Lingering watery nut aftertaste

M: strongly carbonated, champagne bubbly body almost to much. Seems a bit to active in the glass for its kind. A little over medium in the body feel.

D: a little lower than middle of the road for me. Not a big nut brown guy to begin with...I have had better, but not bad.

A pleasant though undistinguished ale with a modest caramel fragrance and timid taste parameters. A watery body carries it forward, an abrupt finish brings it to a close. And along the way, there’s little to elicit much enthusiasm. Just a somber maroon ale.

Brewed to deliberate indifference, even the name suggests a lack of excitement. Released on Halloween and available through January.
