On tap at the Cedar Hills location.
A mildly hazy reddish-amber with a dense, off-white head, this looks solid. The nose is rather hoppy, even more so than the Torpid IPA, with a resiny pine and grapefruit and orange zest notes that pair quite well with the burnt sugar and toffee notes. The palate also shows a noticeable toffee character that really works with the pine and resiny hops, the bitterness from the hops complementing the grainy burnt sugar bitterness and the fruity sweetness from the hops pairing well with the malty sweetness. Bitter and resiny on the finish with a moderate toffee note, this beer is pretty solid.

A balance northwest IRA. On tap at Edgefield. Balanced, malty flavor. A deep amber color. A somewhat pungent hoppy scent. Very pleasant, warm hoppy taste. A bit under carbonated, but the flavor made up for it! A fine example of the IRA. Available at most McMenamins!

Pint at Thompsons Brewpub in Salem. Dark red/ruby with a small tan head. Toasty toffee caramel aroma. Taste is similar to the nose. Maybe a bit of resiny hop. Good full mouthfeel Nice winter beer on a cold night in Salem.

I had this beer on-tap in a pint glass at McMenamins in Mill Creek, WA. The beer menu calls this an Imperial Red Ale.
Appearance: deep amber brown hue with a moderate haze. Head is a thin finger of creamy white foam which dissipated quickly. Not too bad.
Smell: lightly caramelly malt aroma. Hops are not particularly strong in the smell.
Taste: lightly caramelly malt flavor with a pretty healthy dose of somewhat harsh hops with a citrusy character. Bitterness is on the high side of moderate. A little bit too rough around the edges for me.
Mouthfeel: medium body with an OK carbonation and a healthy fizziness, but not super creamy.
Overall: a decent enough hoppy red ale, but just kind of rough. I don't think I'd seek another pint of this.
