I had this on tap in a pint glass at McMenamins in Mill Creek, WA.
Appearance: dark brown hue, just above black. Body is haze free and head is a thin finger of creamy tan foam with good retention.
Smell: lightly nutty, caramelly aroma more reminiscent of a brown ale than a porter. Light in intensity but still pretty nice.
Taste: very caramelly with a little bit of roasty character. Hops are minimal but there is a nice low bitterness here. Again more like a brown ale than a porter.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess. Not bad at all.
Overall: a nicely drinkable beer; it's not super porter-y but I like it.

Had a pint, the last one of the keg, from Thompsons Brewpub,Salem. This was the winner of the Mcmenamins Brewest held there a day before.I think it was made by the High Street locations brewer. Dark as expected froma porter with a small tan head. Nice roasty/toasty malt aromas Very tasty toasty style stout, slightly lactic and smi-sweet. Great smooth mouthfeel to this one. Excellent porter..can see why it won.
