Pours an effervescent and bright gold with 3 fingers of Ivory colored head. Nice head retention and lacing

S: Grassy, bready

T: Follows the nose, dryness as well along with herbal hops. Flavor profile skews more towards a Northern German Pils to me as this warms. Finishes grassy and dry with herbaceous hops and sweet breadyness

MF: Medium body with restrained carbonation, decent balance

Drinks easy enough, but tacking off style

A lot going on with this Double IPA; it is sweet and sassy to taste, and adds a touch of bitterness to the finish. You run the gamut with this DIPA, including the huge aromatic citrus hops that compliment a sugar cane based malt backbone. You also get a solid froth and lacing from the 12oz can, and also noticed my 'best by' date stamped on the bottom of the can is 10 months ahead of when I opened it; was very fresh and enjoyable.

12 FL OZ can
Served in a tulip glass

This beer pours a bright amber color with golden highlights. It is topped with a couple inches of beige head that leaves some nice lacing.

It has a light nose of malt and bitter.

It has a bit of a citrus taste up front. I get some biscuit-y malt through the middle. It has some bitterness and pine in the finish.

Medium bodied with a smooth, creamy mouthfeel

This is a solid old school IPA. It is 1000 times better than their mango IPA.

I agree with that other guy...not citrusy!
Bought it on sale, never had it before, but I can't not try a double IPA.
It's medium-bodied, a clear light orange hue, nice head that disappears pretty quickly.
Likey likey!

Ate you guys high , this is crap beer from Kroger. Tasted like a combination of old mil and and a low rate ups. I'm going to throw out 9.50 when I get home.

I love double IPAs, especially when they are well done. A good double IPA balances sweet, bitter, and alcohol so well that none rises to the fore, and you'd never know you were drinking a high gravity beer. This one does that in spades. Very drinkable, very delicious. A light, golden-honey colored ale that doesn't scream CITRUS!!! This was a blind purchase, 6 x 12 oz cans. Very happy with this gamble. I think double IPAs should clock in at at least 8.5%, but at 8%, it's not drawing any criticism from me.

12 oz. can - Contract brewed by Abita, Abita Springs, Louisiana (printed on cardboard box container):

Pours golden yellow with a foamy head. Head lasts. Lacing sticks.

The smell is of mild citrus with a leafy spice touch.

The taste is of mild citrus and bread. Spicy, herbal bitter touch in the finish. Alcohol comes through. Something a bit plastic-like lingers in the aftertaste.

Medium-bodied. Pretty smooth despite noticeable alcohol warmth.

Pretty much a typical American IPA. Decent but nothing really stands out. Aroma and taste on the mild side.

Still, it's a good price for a more mild double IPA - more of a standard IPA with higher abv. Anyway, paid $8.99 for the six-pack at Fry's in Mesa, AZ. (Good price for a six-pack of a decent Imperial IPA, I think.)

I tried this at my brother in laws house. It poured a clear golden with white head that did not leave much lace. The scent had fruit malt hints. The taste was sweeter leaning with fruit presence. The mouthfeel was medium in body with good carbonation. Overall its a decent beer

Poured from a can into a Samuel Smiths pint glass. Foamy, hazy amber, nice carbonation. Medium lacing. Tastes of fruit and brown sugar, possibly cinnamon and raisins. Also a slight bourbon smell. Tastes like it smells, sweet and fruity but with a noticeably alcohol taste. Heavier mouthfeel than usual for an IPA. Very nice and Christmasy!
