A: The beer is very dark red in color (black in appearance when viewed from quite some distance). It poured with a thin tan head that quickly died down, leaving some lacing on the surface and a thin collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light aromas of dark malts are present in the nose along with hints of molasses.
T: The taste is similar to the smell and also has notes of sweetness.
M: It feels nearly medium-bodied but rather thin on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer definitely looks like a stout but seems quite thin for the style. I definitely would have enjoyed this beer more if it was fuller bodied and had more pronounced flavors in the taste.

Low-priced, undated 12 oz bottle in a snifter.
A: Deep brown, nearly black in the glass, with a modest tan head that has weak retention. Moderate lacing.
S: Pleasing aroma of dark roasted and sweet caramel malts; more of the latter than expected for a stout. Hints of molasses and milk chocolate. Smells like an amber/stout hybrid.
T: Good flavor, but sweet like a milk stout and lacking in strength. Overly mild aftertaste.
M: Smooth; light-medium body; slightly astringent and prickly despite low-medium carbonation; some dryness in the fnish.
O: Not bad, especially for the price. Although leaning to the sweet side for style, this is overall a decently balanced brew. Timid flavor and poor mouthfeel are the main weaknesses.
