Had this brew a couple times now. Meaning to write review.

Generally fantastic. I was surprised to see that the 4 people who reviewed before me, gave such low marks. This is better than many of the designer brewery versions. Not as complex or deep, but perhaps that why its so good. Just simple, crisp, flavorful, well carbonated, and very drinkable. I do detect very mild adjunct flavors, but truthfully, the corn/rice adds crispness without adding the gas station malt-beverage cheapness associated with the macros. Well done.

Price point is terrific also. I suspect after folks personally develop beyond the beer-snob phase of craft brew drinking, these types of simple and satisfying beers will take off.

Hat tip.

Poured from bottle into a pint glass

Appearance- The beer pours a lightly hazed golden color with a small white head. The head fades rather fast leaving only a light level of lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell- The aroma is of lightly toasted malt and a bit of citrus.

Taste- The taste begins with a crisp bready flavor upfront which develops a little more creaminess toward the middle as a some caramel and corn sweetness develop in the taste. In the end a lighter bittering of the brew occurs as some flavors of a citrus hop mixed with a bit of grassiness come to the tongue. These flavors mix with the rest of the flavors that were present up to that point to produce a crisp flavor to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel-The body of the brew was on the medium side in terms of creaminess and thickness with a carbonation level that was rather average overall. Both made for a rather refreshing brew and were quite appropriate for the style.

Overall – Its an OK pale ale. It has a little too much citrus on the end of the taste for me but really for the most part is rather easy drinking overall.

5.3% ABV confirmed. Acquired as part of a 12 pack variety box. 12 fl oz brown glass bottle with blue standard pressure cap served into a Uinta pilsner glass in me gaff in low altitude Los Feliz, Los Angeles, California. Reviewed live.

Served cold, straight from the fridge. Side-poured with standard vigor as no carbonation issues are anticipated.

A: Pours a two finger of beige colour. Appears soft and inviting. Nice thickness and decent cream. Pretty good (~2-3 minute) retention. No bubble show.

Body colour is a clear translucent yellow. No yeast particles are visible.

Looks mundane for the style.

Sm: Pilsner malt, pale malt, and floral hops. Caramalt. No yeast character is detectable. No alcohol is detectable. An above average to mild strength aroma.

T: Pale malts, caramalts, pilsner malts. Floral hop character. No yeast character or alcohol comes through. Sugary. Grainy. Balance is okay. Built decently. Simple and unexciting. Not subtle as all. A biteen too bitter for the style and flavour profile.

Mf: Smooth and wet. Not oily. Okay presence on the palate. Okay carbonation. Okay thickness.

Dr: Decent drinkability. I wouldn't get it again. Poor for the style, but decent generally. I wouldn't recommend it to my friends. Quite average for the style.

Pours a clear orange with a foamy tan head that settles to an oily film on top of the beer. Foamy streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, sugar, and herbal hop aromas. Taste is much the same with citrus zest and herbal hop flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is an above average beer with a surprisingly decent hop presence in the aroma and flavor.
