22oz bottle purchased as a single from the brewpub in Waltham, MA. Blue foiled cap. Bottled 12/18/08.
Poured into an imperial pint glass, formed a 1/4" tan head over the clear dark reddish brown brew. Head is quickly down to an uneven skim of bubbling, with sporadic lasting lace. Aroma is surprisingly minimal, wisps of malt and alcohol.
Taste is rich and malty upfront, worty in the middle, closes lightly hoppy. Alcohol warmth appears after swallow. Mouthfeel is smooth, perhaps a bit thin, and drinkability is superb for the style I think this should be, a strong oktoberfest.
Don't judge this book by its cover, it comes through in the end. Yum.

Had a 14 oz in a snifter glass at dinner.
I was not sure what to expect. The beer was jet black - could barely see anything through it. There were a lot of malty aromas with a hint of dark plums, however there was a strong note of alcohol in the nose.
The taste and mouthfeel were surprising. Very smooth. Strong malt character with dark fruits mixed in, but not too sweet. There is this slow warming from the high alcohol, but not a hot or solvent-y flavor. Just a good mellow taste.
The drink is a little potent from a flavor perspective and a alcohol perspective. I didn't order more than one as I know these would hit me hard without me knowing it.
Overall - good beer. A lot smoother than I would have expected. If I were in a celebratory mood, I would certainly have a second.

Had this on tap tonight at Watch City. Not sure what to think about it. Watch City describes it as a strong/imperial Oktoberfest. 10% ABV, so it has a good kick.
Appearance is very nice, with a nice copper color and a thick, light tan head. Served in a nice snifter for additional appearance points.
Smell is strongly malty, pretty much like you'd expect for an imperial Oktoberfest. Take a normal Oktoberfest and double it, and this is what it would smell like.
Taste: There's a lot of sweetness and a lot of malt here. The primary taste of this beer is sweet. There's a bit of sourness too. Not quite cloying, but not entirely pleasant either. The alcohol is hidden very well though; it doesn't feel like you're drinking a 10% beer.
Mouthfeel is good. Very crisp and clean, as a lager should be.
Drinkability: This stuff is strong, and with the sweetness I'm not sure I'd want to have a whole lot of it. Serving size is 14 oz., and that is perfect IMO.
I'm not sure what to think of this beer. The only other imperial Oktoberfest I know of is the Avery, and I haven't had that for comparison. This one was too sweet for what I thought an imperial Oktoberfest should taste like. But if you step away from your preconceived notions of what this should like taste like, it's certainly an interesting beer, and overall I liked it.
