Somewhere between a Belgian pale ale, an mild ale, and a saison, this beer is a session brew. The brewing notes say that it is a English mild malt bill that uses abbey yeast and saaz hops.
Amber in color, served with an unfortunate stadium pour. No sign of a head or lacing. Smells like caramels and phenolics. Flavors are down the same road, pretty well balanced. A lot of light caramel flavor evolves into the most bread-like flavor I have tasted in a beer. The phenolics provide a nice counterpoint to the malt and yeast with a pleasant spiciness. That being said, all of the flavors seem somewhat dull or unfresh - perhaps slight oxidation? The feel of the beer is not very good. The carbonation is low but harsh at the same time - it seems very unnatural. Pretty smooth drinkability, without any real annoying flavors. This beer has a lot of potential if the future batches have improved carbonation, some head, and more fresh/lively flavors.
