This beer poured from a bomber a dark, very hazy brown with a thin white head that left virtually no lace. The nose has a mixture of allspice, bread dough, figs and grapefruit rinds. The flavor echoes much of that heavily influenced by the grapefruit and the fig character of the malt. This beer really has matured in the bottle. It comes at you in layers with the citrus character of the hops first, followed by the doughy character of the yeast and finally the sweet malt on the finish. Its developed into almost a barley wine in character. Very smooth mouth feel, very drinkable.

Took part in a bacchanalia of unbridled proportions with this one on 2/19/2005. 1 pt. 6 fl. oz. red foil-topped bomber poured twice in a shaker glass. Date on the bottle says it was bottled on 5/2/2004.
Full parachute bubbles in a half arc to one side, otherwise fairly thin coating with some light stick. Light, apple cider hue with inverse haze yet discernible copious amounts of action. Plum fruit pop tart on nose that cleaves the nose hairs with its alcohol sweat; buzz of full metal jacket malt is calling. Plucky fruit mélange of craisins, red grapes, dates, and grapefruit hits the mouth first, with the alcohol-infused malt sifting through and eventually taking control. Very meaty mouthfeel that scrapes, primes, and coats the mouth, then coats again. Fabulous, and not nearly as biting as the Gouden Carolus.

Before opening the bottle, I note something unusual about this package. What seems to be a 22 ounce vessel bears a label claiming it holds 15.5 gallons. They re-used the keg sticker for the bottle label. I'm torn between "is their budget so tight?" and "what an admirable model of economy!" But, to the beer...
Very cloudy, messy, with a hard to tag color, somewhere between pale brown and muddy maroon, with a teeny, tiny appearance of a head, quickly gone
Nose is yeasty, citric, sour, with occasional blasts of candi sugar, deep and vast, with dark fruits at play, raisins and dates...an intriquing assembly of aromas.
Taste: more fruit, more yeast, but a bit too flat, very little impact on the palate, no carbonation...not always needed, but sorely missed now. flavor's fine, but feels on the dull side. Theirs a tangy slap and tickle in the mouth after awhile, a juiciness that sloshes around and stings just a touch, maybe it's the alcohol speaking it's mind, but the flavor gets better further in, as well. Finiash is citric and juicy, long lasting. Not a conventional beer by any means, hard to get a handle on...I'm not impressed, really, but neither am I disappointed.
I've adjusted my score several times in the course of consumption, and who knows if repeated samples would sway my opinion.
Cheers to fdrich for providing!

Pours a red-brown with just a bit of film and specks of lace. It is 9.6% so thats no problem. Served in a 10 ounce wine glass, they should probably pick up some tulips.
Aroma is peppery and fruity with a grape note. Strong vinuous aroma develops as it warms.
Sweet candy like taste, pepper, grape, and grainy.
Medium-full body, tastes "thick" and is coating. I would like to try this again, but one of them almost put me to sleep.
