Schwartz Bier Lager

This beer is the result of a brewing contest (I believe in conjunction with Beer Summit). The winner, a gentleman named Dan, created a recipe for Schwarzbier. First prize was a chance to brew his beer at Watch City. This creation has been lagering for a few months now, and I was one of the 1st to try it out. I don't drink many beers of this style, but it seems a pretty good representation. The brewer didn't leave any notes on the beer, so I don't have any specifics on the percent alcohol, etc. The beer poured a dark black with a thin tan head. It has a wonderful sweet malt aroma. Mostly caramel and toffee with light flower back from the hops. Taste is sweet and mild. The flavor is dominated by the sweet malt. Mainly just the caramel character. There is a mild alcohol warming. I would estimate approximately 6%ABV Very smooth mouth feel. Reasonably drinkable.
