Took a stroll in the moonlight with a cherished one with this one on 1/4/2006. 16-oz. pint pour at the source, a strangely electric night of wet and cold. "Strong ale... very warming for the cold winter days and [V]ery strong!" says the three-tiered, splattered stand. ABV is quoted as 8.3%, the "IBU's" are 85, at $5.00/pint.
Just a skim of appropriate lunar landscape for head, with an equally expressive amount of Alan Moore's Rorschach "Who Watches the Watchmen"-like litmus test of rainbow hue to the whole phantasmagoria. The watchers out of time note that extant within the brew is a certain hue that evokes waking dreams of motled wood, like some form of mahogany that leaves one screaming as the haze of winter twilight creeps quietly through the virgin forest of stunted saplings... close to a woody brown. Some light lace.
On the nose, a corpulent malt rendered to the bone, a very wet smell, with a welcoming dankness, like children walking in a haunted house.
A strong malt character almost overpowers the tongue, with a cearling peat aspect mixed with spicy toffee. As the pour warmed, more of the alcohol presented itself, but not in any way detracting from the drinkability.
Good... . . .
