Had at Watch City 2/24
Served in a pint glass
A: This beer pours a deep, deep copper color bordering on brown with a lighter copper hues around the edges. A one finger of khaki colored frothy head that recedes quickly leaving thick sheets of lacing on the glass.
S: Nose is rye, caramel malts, and citrus hops.
T: Taste starts slightly malty, nice light caramel malts. A nice rye backbone really fills out the middle, not overpowering but a hearty presence. Finish has spicy hops with a bit of a citrus bite.
M: Medium body, medium carbonation, creamy body with an oily finish.
D: Goes down rather easily, tasty, somewhat filling, hearty kick, nice representation of style. The rye in this isn't overpowering, which is a nice change from the last beer using rye Watch City offered. It's nicely balanced and rather tasty - had the cask not kicked, I certainly would have had another pint.
