Brewed for their "14 Degrees of Making Bacon “Cask”travaganza"
Served in a pint glass
A: This beer pours a deep brown with slight light amber hues. No head on the beer what so ever. No lacing to speak of either.
S: Nose is legit roasted garlic...slightly reminiscent of wandering through the North End. Some notes of sweet malt and date also comes through.
T: Taste starts with a slightly muted, but very present, perfectly roasted garlic flavoring that is mingled with a light, sweet, malt flavoring. The light malt is enhanced by the date presence. At first fig isn't present, but as the beer sits for a bit, date becomes a nice undercurrent of flavoring and slight smoked, bacon flavor.
M: Medium body, low to moderate carbonation, somewhat slick and silky.
O: Goes down easily, again - ridiculously tasty, somewhat filling, well hidden kick, and another very interesting twist on the style. I got this just for the sake of saying "yea I had it." Yea, so I got 2 pints of this....it was damn good; I'd get it again in a heart beat! (and unlike eating garlic, the next day, the beer isn't seeping out of your pores - BONUS!)
