Doppelbock is one of my favorite styles, so I was anxious to try this. Longstaff had recommended it to me, also! Had a very dark chestnut color, with a minimal, fine head. Lacing was just an afterthought, too. Nose was much too mild, though maltiness still shone through. Body held its own, in the medium range, and it was middle-of-the-road on the smoothness meter, too. Has lots of malty flavors throughout, with suggestions of caramel and toffee appearing. It has a slightly roasty, bitterness at the finish. Overall, fairly good! Let it warm, as it improves with higher temps! Prosit!!

Dark brown body with reddish highlights. Aromas were hard to detect since they just finished varnishing some wood in the bar. But this beer tasted awesome and is true to the German Dopplebock style. Had a medium to thick mouthfeel and tasted similar to Spaten Optimator - not too malty, somewhat crisp, and had some good chocolate notes. Moderate carbonation made this one slick and easy to drink. Did not detect too much fruitiness or the weird fermentation smell that is usual in Watch City beers. So good I had 2 in a row and will be back for more with my growlers in hand. Food seemed to bring out harsh alcohol flavors though that were not noticeable when drank by itself.

Poured dark brown like a porter with a 1/2 inch head. Sweet, malty and well balanced. The first thing that I noticed was how smooth it was. One of the best brews that I have had at Watch City. If you are in the area please stop by and try.
