On-tap 8/28/08 at Watch City Brewing Company, in Waltham, MA, served in a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a light brown color, with a thin off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.

S: The aroma is of clove spice, Belgian yeast, light malts, some caramel and some hops.

T: The taste is well-balanced with flavors of clove spice, caramel and Belgian yeast up front. The malt character is hearty and there's a decent hops presence. The after-taste is slightly spicy and slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and very smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

D: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, decent kick, good representation of style, this is nice Belgian-style beer to drink for a while if you want one with some substance that won't try to knock you over with a ton of alcohol.

Part of the bottle-conditioned series, dated 4/11/03 in marker on the bottle label. Cidery, hazy deep brown pour with a very thin lace on the glass. The aroma is fruity and mellow with more distinctive berry hints, a hint of sweetness and the sharpness of alcohol. The body is smooth supporting an initially malty brew with a strong yeast presence and a mild bitterness jumping up momentarily throughout the experience. A good amount of malt balances the other characteristics. Finishes with a nice bit of warmth.

Pour is a dark amber, minimal white head leaves no lacing. Aroma has caramel, lemon, banana, and some spices (maybe nutmeg). Flavor is strong on the caramel, some lemon and banana mingle in the middle, ends with some spice. Body is medium, flavors lingering, carbonation minimal.
