This brew was sooo nasty I could not finish it! It's got a sickly-sweet musty bacterial taste to it. Normally a porter will have a coffee/roasty taste to it... this one is quite the opposite. I do not recommend!

nice beer from an unknown western brewery. maybe my favorite that i had there. my only critique really is that its just a bit too sweet. you loose some of the dark malt bitterness and layers due to the residual sugar, which isnt way off, but this could be a lot better just a little drier. the feel is real smooth still though, and it doesnt linger too too long. carbonation helps with that. i love the coconut flavor, its maybe to sweet to be from acutal coconuts, but its milky and rich and seems rather authentic. meaty and fleshy with the dark malts, a nice juxtaposition of light and dense. not overly complicated either, not barrel aged, no spiked with java or nibs, just straight up. i think the base porter is nice too, full bodied and hearty satisfying. a wonderful first impression from this little brewery i just happened to drive past. i didnt like any of their others nearly this well, so maybe i hit the right one the first kick at the can, or maybe i picked some lemons for my others, but this is worth checking out. not death by coconut good, but moving in that direction.
