Normally a porter should have a coffee-like earthiness to it. This porter has a really nasty sweetness about it. There is no crispness that I'd expect from this level of carbonation either. It feels flat and slimy. Maybe somebody forgot to clean the tanks between batches, or maybe just a fouled-batch. I couldn't drink it and asked them to pour it out for me.

Served in a taster glass
From notes - found a random page of notes in a book. Enjoyed while visiting the brew pub in July 2011.
A: Opaque dark brown. Single (mocha) fingernail head.
S: Roasted chocolate malt and espresso. Sweet toffee, vanilla, caramel, and leather. Smells very robust.
T: Much like the smell - burnt chocolate malt with a balanced toffee/caramel sweetness with a nice bitter coffee finish. Very roasty and robust, but not too burnt.
M: Full bodied with medium carbonation.
O: By far my favorite offering from Horsefly during my visit. This porter is quite distinct, roasty, and memorable. Not too thick, but just right.
