Got this from an Italian "slow food" shop on Kerkstraat, Amsterdam.

Beer opens with a short bang rather than the usual longer plop. Looks rather flat when poured, with a head that lasts for nanoseconds and some coarse bubbles. Body is murky orange.

Aroma is a sourfruity like in a semi-dry cider with some underlying complexity of those bitter pears that come with a ruffled brown skin and there is just a hint of vinegar.

Starts out as a semi-dry cider with a fruitiness that is pear and not apple (but not like in a typical mild pear cider); it hits a note of earthy tartness that glues the tongue to the palate. While you are trying to overcome the dryness and get control of your tongue again a peppery burn forms in your throat that just keeps on burning

Body is a surprisingly thick medium due to the lack of carbonation. There is this astringency on the tongue and a burn in the throat as described earlier. Sublime!

I was hoping this was good but in fact in is divine. Never had such a complex lambic before with a present but restrained sourness. The mouthfeel is especially remarkably. If you dig sours and you can find this pearl anywhere, do not hesitate and get it!

Pours out like an unblended lambic with the only "head" forming were bubbles generated from the pour and they die fast. The color is a hazy golden orange.

There is a funky hay overlaying the pears as well as some other tart fruitiness.

A nice sourness here. A metallic flavor which isn't the best is present but plays enough of a second fiddle to everything else to not be too distracting. The funk and pears is a great combo here.

Light bodied with a soft carbonation and a sharp sourness that takes over on the sides of the tongue and back of the palette.

Was suggested this while in Rome. Very nice sour. Haven't seen any other pear sours out there so it was a nice try and worth a taste.

Pour is a light tranparent orange with tons of tight fluffy white head. Nose is very dusty and earthy with hints of rubber cement, peppery spice and notes of lemon in back. The taste follows the nose with a bit more spice and a very dusty earthy aspect mid palate, back is lemon grass with a decent peppery spice in the finish. Light body with a bit of a grainy feel on the palate, assertive carbonation and semi dry finish.

Bottle purchased from Birrae Domus in Rome.

Pours a hazy copper-amber color with a half-finger white head. The head recedes into a wispy layer on top leaving decent lacing.

Smells of good amounts of funk backed up by grainy medium malts. Hints of pear aromas waft out and intensify as the beer warms.

Tastes great. Mild medium malt flavors serve as the backbone for good amounts of funky flavors and sweet, syrup-soaked pears. Midway through the sip the pear flavors turn tarter and get a fresher flavor. The ripe and fresh pear flavors carry through to a crisp ending.

Mouthfeel is good. It's got a nice thickness with active carbonation.

Drinkability is very good. I finished my glass very quickly and could easily have a few more.

Overall I have to say that this was my first pear lambic and I'm glad to say that it was very well done. The pear flavors shine and it's interesting to taste almost two different types of pear flavors throughout the sip. Well worth a shot if you can get your hands on it.
