Stairway is our finest premium pale ale. Brewed with vibrant Sladek and Marynka hops from Eastern Europe, expect spritely citrusy and floral aromas with delicate piney notes. The finest English Maris Otter barley malt brings it back home with a full bodied and creamy palate that’ll be sure to send you on your Stairway To Heaven!

500ml brown glass bottle.
L: Clear, pale gold with a thin soapy head that disappears completely and leaves no lacing.
S: Sweet, delicate and floral.
T: Honeysuckle, white peach, passionfruit, lemon and a touch of aniseed.
F: Medium/light body with a very slick mouthfeel and a lightly drying finish.
O: An English pale ale brewed with Polish and Czech lager hops. Starts floral but becomes more herbal. I like it when a beer reveals its different personalities over time. I think I prefer the traditional Gold but this is well worth a try. Probably even better on cask than in bottle format.

Had the pleasure of visiting this brewery and its visitor centre in the summer of 2011: this review however is of a hand pulled pint in the excellent Cock Hotel, Wellington on 2nd Feb 2012.

Almost lager looking: pale golden, clear and bright with a thin snow white head on top.

One sniff tells you its an ale though, not a lager: waves of citrusy hop esters fill the nose along with freshly cut grass.

I thought it might taste a bit weak from its looks but I was mistaken: good flavoursome blend, hop frontage and rear with a bready malt centre.

Very easy to drink and refreshing.
