Another contract brew from Scamark sold at LeClerc supermarkets. This one has the "Marque Repere" label just like the Biere Blonde de Luxe that says "Millbrau" on the bottom, contracted by the same outfit. Same abv as well. Thought they might be the same thing, but this one looks better, and the ingredients are slightly different.
Ingredients: water, malted barley, malted what, hop extract, and caramel color.
A-Pours a clear light golden color w/thick white head that exhibits a little staying power, and a bit of tracing.
S-Week nose w/pale malt and a bit of sweetness.
T&M-I can hardly taste anything. Tastes like Wonder Bread with just enough "hop extract" to offset the slight sweetness. The wheat does offer a noticeable bit of smoothness and "backbone," although I'd stop short of saying that this beer has any spine at all. There is no actual perceptible noble hop character except the faint bitterness. The carbonation is prickly and the aftertaste is a bit grainy w/faint hops bitterness.
D-If you like watery macros, this is a great beer. Otherwise, I think it's an excellent brat boiler or lawn mower beer if you're on a serious budget. For the price (very cheap) it's actually a good deal. No taste though. It's like a mineral water mixed w/a can of Bud.
