No information given about the style of this beer, served on tap 10/10/08. Listed simply as "Django", the name of the restaurant next door at the Hotel Fort Des Moines.
Attractive, burnished brown color. White head is overflowing, very tall. Served about two inches, with nice retention and lacing.
The flavor and aroma consist mainly of a mildly phenolic yeast strain, plenty of candi sugar sweetness, and some spices and peppers. The power of the nose was impressive; the flavor was a little less so.
Smooth, medium-full mouthfeel; pretty creamy. Overall a pretty drinkable brew, although really nothing distinguishing about it. Enjoyable and off-beat for such a small brewpub.
