2024 release. Poured at 55° into a snulip glass. An inky black pour. The medium-mocha-colored head dissipated immediately leaving a thin ring. A big, fragrant nose featuring roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla, fresh coffee, a whiff of tobacco smoke, and a strong aroma of whiskey. The taste is dry, earthy, and fairly bitter. There is some opening chocolate sweetness and a hint of vanilla but it is quickly balanced by the rye whiskey, bitter char, ash, and acidic coffee grounds. The bitterness lingers. Letting it breathe in the glass helps it to mellow a bit. For a Porter it has a good, thick mouth with moderate carbonation and it doesn't drink like 14.2%. Overall, this is an excellent Imperial Porter. I've enjoyed all of the BA offerings from this brewery in Columbia, MO.

500ml wax capped bottle. Poured out an opaque, jet-black color with a small, light brown head of foam. It left sticky rings of lace on the glass. It smelled of bourbon, vanilla, oak, rich chocolate and toffee. Sweet boozy taste with bourbon, vanilla, charred oak and chocolate.
