On draught at the brewery. Served in a snulip glass. It's a slightly hazy, bright golden-orange color with virtually no head; just a small, ecru-colored ring around the glass. A big, aromatic smell featuring lemon, grapefruit, onion, pine needles, and just a whiff of sweeter fruit. The taste is super dank and tart with notes of lemon peel, grapefruit rind, earthy, weedy herbs, and cannabis. The Strata hop influence is strong. The Nelson Sauvin provides the dry white wine taste that dominates mid-palate. This ale is extremely bitter for 75 IBU and I don't detect the red berry characteristic of the Mosaic hops. As a result the flavor is a bit one-dimensional. The mouth feel is very crisp and surprisingly lite for 8.9% ABV. Overall, I'm always dubious of the use of Strata in a West Coast IPA. I wish the Mosaic hops were more evident in balancing the dank bitterness. Nonetheless, an ale worth trying.

32oz crowler. Poured out a clear, golden orange color with a small, off-white head of foam. It sudsy sheets of lace on the glass. It smelled of pineapple, grapefruit, orange and sweet caramel. Great fruity taste with toasted caramel and a sharp, piney bitterness.
