a lot of cherry in this one, but it was a little sweet and a little simple for me. more amber in color than fruity red or anything, and fairly clear for a saison, nice foamy head with good retention. it smells like sweet pie cherries, mostly natural aside from all the sugar. whats missing here for me is the yeast, this isnt rustic or old school or funky or even interesting at all on the yeast front, and thats a real negative for me in the style, its not even sort of belgian tasting, i think thats a real missing element. i like the grain complexion though, with a little caramelized grain sugar in here to bring out and extend the cherry, nicely built there. there is a toasted quality to it as well, rounding it out and providing some balance. the cherry is strong, its a neat flavor, soda-like for a moment in the beginning, but getting back to beer before too long. i have not had much beer at all from these guys, and while this one is well made, i am not in love with the recipe. it would benefit from being allowed to ferment down a little drier, and it absolutely needs a more flavorful yeast element to fit the saison style at all. tasty beer but not right as a saison...

A - Poured a golden amber color with a one-finger, frothy head. It was long lasting and very bubbly. It left some sudsy sheets of lace on the glass.

S - It smelled yeasty and spicy with a touch of cherry sweetness.

T - It has some of the usual fruitiness that comes with Belgian yeast with a nice spicy bite. Plus, there are mild cherry flavors - not sour but sweet.

M - It was crisp, sharp and smooth. A medium bodied ale with a nice dry bite at the finish.

O - This is one of the better brews going at Broadway. It is more expensive than others because of the amount of cherries required to brew it.

Pours a cloudy, dark salmon color. 1/4 inch head of an off-pink color. Decent retention and decent lacing. Smells of sweet malt, hint of pale malt, slight citrus hops, cherry, and slight yeast. Fits the style of a Saison / Farmhouse ale. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of sweet malt, slight caramel malt, slight cherry, hint of hops, slight yeast, and a hint of spice. Overall, good aroma, body, and blend. The cherry flavor is not too strong, which is the way I like my cherry.
