Copenhagen 2/4 2018. 37,5 cl bottle from Ølhandleren in Hørning (web-shop). Bottle packed in paper. Guy looking very happy with his beer on the paper.

Pours clear very dark brown with a medium sized off-white head. Settle as thin, patchy layer of foam. Moderate lacing.

Aroma is vinegar, dark fermented fruit, humid basement and a sharp sourness.

Medium strong carbonation and soft texture.

Flavor has light sweetness followed by prominent sourness. Aftertaste is sour and acidic. Green apples and vinegar. Finish is dry.

Nice dry sour beer to sip.

Chestnut brown with a creamy but fast-fleeing beige head and a continuing lift of carbonation as it sits; cocoa, root beer, dried cranberries, black cherries, wood + light vinegar on the nose; hints of caramel and fig, cola, mild tartness, carob, pepper; dry, fizzy, smooth.

Not a looker, but nose offers an intriguing, 19th Century apothecary’s cabinet of tonics + elixirs. Malts are not so much assertive as quietly confident, and present with sweet depth - sarsparilla, let’s say - that an English Brown would never dare to try.
That lift of tartness lets the beer get away with the sugar, and makes this a potentially winning food beer - I could see this with all sorts of desserts + cheeses.
A dark horse; this is every bit the equal of Goudendband.

I’d rather drink this than Coca-Cola.

Nothing wrong with this beer, just not at the level of others in the category. There seemed to be a little bit of a vinegar tone to it, and lacked depth of flavor.

Pours a dark, opaque brownish/black with a minimal brownish head which disappears almost instantaneously with no lacing. Aroma is classic to Flanders red ales - big tart cherry aroma with some vinegar like characteristic. Taste doesn't pack the punch of the aroma. Tart cherries with an acidic bite, but the flavor is not as full, sweet or balanced on the acidity as some others in this category. The finish is an unbalanced bitterness.

De Decervecitas. En copa Mahou Barrica. Estudiando Reglamento de PA. Curiosa. Cuerpo ligero, aguado, con una acidez muy comedida y agradables notas a tofi. Con un mayor cuerpo creo que ganaría bastantes muchos enteros.

L: reminicient of cola, dark brown color. Can’t see through. Head dissipates quickly.
S: smells kinda like cherry cola. Notes of dark fruit, raisin, fig. Lots of dark sugar, toffee
T: cola and dark sugar with cherry. Repeat of nose but with a bit more acidity than anticipated.
F: a bit thin, could use more carbonation.
O: a good beer by all means, but probably not worth the $5 I paid for the bottle

12.7oz green bottle. Gold/black foil wrapped cap and bottle. No bottling date found.
Medium brown colored body. Slight off white colored head, results in skiff and ring. Some spots of lacing left behind.
Smell is malt, yeasty funk and vinous.
Taste is vinous, green apple, malt, and a little yeast funk. Blend of slight sweetness and tart.
Medium mouth feel. Very good carbonation.
Quite refreshing Belgian concoction. Quite of dry at the end with some stickiness through the sip.

Pouring a 12.7 oz. bottle dated 02/14/12 into a wine glass. This beer pours out with surprising carbonation. Bubbles fizzing, form a crown and quickly dissipate in seconds. The beer itself is a dark brown. Like a strong tea. The smell itself is acidic with very little of anything else showing through. Seems bland from the smell. The taste comes in with an almost a tea like sweetness and a tart acidity. Mouthfeel is dry. It ends up being almost like a sour tea, kind of. It's not bad by any means.

Reviewed from notes. Poured from a 12.7 oz. bottle into a Tampa Bay Brewing Company snifter glass.

A: Quite dark brown, hazy but not quite opaque. Forms a thin off-white head, but it fades fairly quickly.

S: Malty sweetness up front with bits of toffee. Mild funk and bleu cheese, and a hint of acetic tang in the background. A bit weird, but not terrible.

T: Sweet malts and toffee again, with malic acid tartness and milder acetic acid burn. Some grape juice or low-tannin vinous character, and a candied fruity flavor (like cherries and lemons). Some funk and some cheese and some feet. It finishes with some sweetness fighting the malic and acetic tartness.

M: An average heft to the body. Good carbonation sensation, and the alcohol presence noticeable but not overdone.

O: This is weird, though not completely unenjoyable. It doesn't really strike me as a Flanders at all; if that's what you're looking for, I'd go elsewhere. Still, the flavors aren't objectionable if somewhat style-defying. But nothing to seek out.

Look: dark ruby red. Thin but dense and persistent head, plenty of lacing.
Smell: mainly sour with green apple but with a malty backbone.
Taste: Reminded me of sherry. It starts with green grape (not exactly unripe, just grapes of any sour variety), a point of cane/candi sugar. Malty. Complex and satisfactory.
Sensation: medium bodied, strong and fizzy carbonation.
Overall: very pleasant and enjoyable.
