Aroma
Some sweet malt, slight aroma of mustiness but pretty clean. Fairly subdued for belgian dubbel but the hints are there.
Appearance
Reddish/light mahoghany. Poured to initial 1 to 1&1/2 inch head in apostol dubbel glass. Head dissipated fiarly quickly with a slight remainder that isn't lacing the best.
Taste
Lightly toasted malt with some residual sweetness, bit off the yeast but fairly subdued on the "belgian" phenolics and fruitiness. Good enough, but not terribly remarkable. (I had 2 of this brewery's beers in one sitting in Cartagena)
Drinkability
Rather, good easy flavor and no unpleasant aftertaste. At a 6.2% abv could session this pretty easily. When compared to the price of the local macro brews this is fairly expensive though.

Some presence on the palette with no real bitterness

The last of the lineup sent to me by the folks at Inducerv.
Brilliant aspect, poured into the San tomás snifter for the dubbel (quite fancy indeed). Ruby red toned, deep and slightly cloudy with a mild carbonation going on. tan, creamy head dissipating half quickly but leaving a decent film atop the beer.
Smell is definetly the best part, rich and complex malty scent, somewhat stingy to the nose, pineapple-y for the slightest part and with a decent alcohol background which is inviting.
The taste is good, just not the expected followup to the smell. sweetness dominates with a straightforward cough-syrup malty feel rather hiding the claws of what would've initially seemed an aggressive beer. the yeasty alcohol feel is subtle on the rear tongue and the hops are only a residual deal that accompanies its light fizziness. full-bodied nonetheless, thick and oily on the mouth.
Quite drinkable. this is a dubbel's amaretto alright, when you might be hoping for a scotch.
