Bottle conditioned like all the Pen-lon beer. Poured from a chilled 500ml bottle into a pint glass.
Appearance: Heavy black body, with a creamy persistent tan head, and light carbonation.
Aroma: Big rich roasted malts on the nose, with hints of chocolate, and whisky-like peat.
Taste: Quite bitter up front with a slight smokey edge, as with the nose there is lots of peatiness, and mild coffee. The finish has a hint of sweetness but the smokiness still persists and controls the aftertaste, very well balanced ending.
Mouthfeel: Heavy and full bodied like any good stout, with a nice smoothness. It might be a tiny bit too lively but it does help give the flavours a bit of a kick.
Drinkability: A nice little stout, really quite enjoyed it. It's not too filling like some stouts so it's something I could easily drink a few of in a night.
