From the fishermen who have fought the harsh waters of the Northeast for generations, to the family clam bakes and lobster boils that celebrate their well-earned bounty, seafood is part of the fabric of every New Englander. We work hard, take nothing for granted, and have a good time doing it. When we crack our first lobster of the season, it's a big deal- an occasion to indulge, reflect, and party with friends and family. Since 1890, Narragansett has been the beer that fishermen toil to earn, and the beer the rest of us salute them with. This beer honors the risk and hails the rewards that comes with every "Fresh Catch." Fresh Catch is a supremely refreshing blonde ale that's dry hopped with citra for a crisp grapefruit finish. Aromas of citrus and passion fruit are very evident, but mild of the palate. Brewed to be the perfect pairing with shellfish or whitefish.

If I’m drinking a cold fresh catch, it’s from the can. Just a great chillin beer, grilling beer, yard work beer etc. At 4.2% it’s crack it open, drink, repeat.

Mostly clear golden in color with a THICK, frothy white head. Nose is like a pilsner mixed with a light lager, zesty yet malty. Taste was rather weak, almost non existant flavor. What was there hinted at sweet caramel. Eversoslight bitterness.

16oz can. No BBF or canned on date on the can.
4.2% ABV, 23 IBU's, dry hopped wih Citra.
Pours out to a lightly hazy pale golden forming a soapy light yellow head with good retention and lacing. Fair amount of debris floating around in the beer. Carbonation is moderate, ~2.75 carbs or so. Nose is light with subtle hop notes of pineapple and peach, swirling gives off an interesting lemony sour milk character which strongly suggests lactobacillus infection. A soft dry hop. Mouthfeel is watery, very light bodied, slightly spritzy. Taste of subtle peach and pineapple hop notes with not much malt character and a medium bitterness which is slightly piney. A little lemongrass in the finish. No oxidation/DMS/diacetyl noted, however there is a bit of lacto tartness.
An easy drinking beer that achieves it's goal, which is to be something easy to drink when having seafood. I'm not a huge seafood eater, but I can see how it would go well with it, or burgers and brats. It's not something I would seek out, but if someone had it at a cookout, I'd go for it. I suspect an early lacto infection, which may be a one-off.

Just picked up a sixer of tall boys for $8.49, not bad these days. Currently enjoying one on an early October evening at Third Beach. A light Blonde Ale with Citra, how could this not be tasty?

Pours a clear orange. Thin foam. Bitter hop body. A little thin. Soapy finish. Average at best.

A crisp and refreshing beer. Slightly carbonated. Golden in color. The distinctive Citra hops makes it what it is.
