The holiday season in Rhode Island is a special time of year. Thanksgiving football rivalries span decades, Christmas trees are tagged at local farms, and Rhode Islanders who have moved all around the world come home to celebrate with friends and family. Narragansett beer has been part of the holidays in Little Rhody for five generations, and this year we’ve brewed a festive ale with cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and orange peel to toast the season.

Deep ruby brown color. Clear. The head is small and and light beige. It settles slowly leaving some wide, slightly chunky spots and streaks for lace.

Cinnamon and nutmeg nose initially. There's a bit of sweeter caramelized malt as a secondary aroma.

Drier, dark malt start to the flavor. There's a good dose of cinnamon and nutmeg mid-sip. There's a low, mild hop at the swallow. The body leans full but the carbonation is also higher than usual. Personally, I find this decently complex. The finish is blend of all of the aforementioned elements combined. Neutral length aftertaste.

Appearance:
Pours to a patchy rocky head that falls to a 6mm layer that persists and laces. Hazy deep rusty red.

Aroma:
Toasty malts and the spices listed on the label, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg and orange peel. A hint of vanilla and fruit esters. Low earthy hops.

Flavor:
Slightly muddy and dry toasted and caramel malts, Moderate hiliday spices that linger in to the finish. Nice bracing bitterness. Some of the aftertaste is oddly of old hops, dill and grass.

Mouthfeel:
Too thin for style. A light medium. Slightly rough and astringent on the tongue. no alcohol warmth. Kind of watery feeling.

Overall:
There are far better holiday ales to buy than this.
